Infections caused by the virus zoster (shingles), including ophthalmoherpes; to reduce the risk of occurrence and duration of post-herpetic neuralgia,
infections caused by the virus simplexenanthate:
treatment of primary infection,
treatment and prevention of exacerbations of chronic infections,
infections caused by viruses simplex (labial and genital) at patients with reduced immunity.
Hypersensitivity to famciclovir or any of the components. Hypersensitivity to penciclovir.
Caution should be exercised when treating patients with impaired renal function, which may require correction mode.
Special precautions in elderly patients and patients with impaired hepatic function is required. Experience of the drug in patients with severe (decompensated) liver dysfunction there.
Application of pregnancy and during breastfeeding
Experimental studies have shown no embryotoxicity and teratogenic effects of famciclovir and penciclovir. However, since the data on the safety of the drug enanthate in pregnant and lactating women is not enough, its use in pregnancy and lactation is possible only if the benefits of treatment to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and child.
In experimental animal studies, the application of famciclovir (inside ) noted the allocation of penciclovir in breast milk.
It is not known whether penciclovir is excreted in breast milk in humans.

The duration of therapy depends on the severity of the disease. Recommended periodic assessment of possible changes of the disease after 12 months. In HIV-infected patients, the effective dose is 500 mg 2 times a day. Patients aged ≥65 years. In elderly patients with normal renal function correct dosing regimen of famciclovir is not required.
